“The attack was one of the largest against a DNS provider in terms of global scope…” -Tim Greene, Executive Editor, Network World

"Never compromise your DNS. Never compromise your organization. Never compromise your career."

On October 21, 2016, DNS provider Dyn was attacked, leading to massive service outages at some of the world's most popular online sites. This attack demonstrated how attackers can use insecure IoT devices to take down entire networks. Dyn will experience the lasting effects from this attack for years to come.

These attacks beg several questions. Why do they continue to happen? Do they cost people their jobs, or their entire careers? Are you willing to compromise your job or your career instead of securing your DNS?

We recently examined the current state of DNS security by working with Dimensional Research to survey over 1,000 organizations around the world. The survey results shed light on how companies are addressing DNS security. They also demonstrate that most organizations remain inadequately prepared to defend against DNS attacks.

DNS is the best friend of the Dark industry as much as it is the best friend of digital organization. It is the unchecked, yet trusted highway to every organization. No wonder hackers are exploiting organizations with ease, and this is just the beginning: as more devices join the digital economy, DNS becomes a lot more valuable to attackers.
